artRiot is an artist’s collective I’m part of and the inaugural exhibition – which I’m both organising & exhibiting in – opens this Saturday as part of The Sydney Fringe.
This Saturday night drums will roll, instruments will be thrown, tear-gas will be fired… but the people will emerge from the riot with paint on our hands, ideas in our minds, pencils in our hands, revolutionary songs on our lips and scrawled across the road in our wake, those famous words might echo again, “beneath the pavement, the beach.”
Opening Performance Night
6pm Saturday 11 September
Upstairs, Annandale Hotel, 17 Parramatta Rd
RSVP on facebook and share the event with comrades & conspirators.
There are 12 other inspiring artists I’m exhibiting alongside and working with to make the show a success, which is really exciting. For my part, below is a taste of what I’ll be exhibiting.
What’s the idea behind artRiot? A few of us got together and started a new artist’s collective with the aim of supporting, promoting & connecting artists whose work aims to create radical social change in a concrete way… and challenging the stagnation and encroaching banality of Sydney’s art scene.
Spread the word – Saturday’s going to be a riot.
